MURAL FEST 2024…Just Around The Corner

Kentish Arts Commerce and Tourism will introduce a public mural at this year’s Mural Fest from November 3-9.
The Gulliver’s Travels mural will be available for members of the public to paint at the Arts Centre and follows the success of last year’s paint-a-square public mural painting.
This year’s theme is ‘The Magic of the Minuscule’ and nine murals will be painted over a seven-day period.
A Photographic Exhibition and Kids Art Exhibition will be hosted at the Sheffield Arts Centre.
KACT President, Sandy Brattstrom said financial backing from the community was required for a successful event.
“We are grateful for the support we are receiving from our sponsors and volunteers and look forward to a great event in November, but we are still seeking financial support from the community,” she said.
Mural Fest is organised, managed, and staffed by volunteers - with no paid positions. KACT relies heavily on the generosity of individuals and businesses who value the creation of nine new murals each year in Mural Park.
“Not only do these murals add to our area’s identity as ‘Tasmania’s Outdoor Art Gallery’, they drive significant tourism and business to the area,” Sandy said.
She said Mural Fest also needed more volunteers. “Whether it be helping with meet and greet, looking after the artists, selling raffle tickets, working at the voting table, helping in the kitchen, helping put in place protective weather screens for the artist…whether it be for a few hours, a day or several days, there are many tasks requiring assistance. Volunteering is fun and rewarding and a great opportunity to meet new people, gain new skills and make a difference in the community in which we live”.
