Averill Lawler is a Tasmanian visual artist whose work draws from the wild, weather-worn edges of Lutruwita/Tasmania’s coast. With a sensitivity to texture and atmosphere, Averill’s paintings capture the interplay of southern swells, shifting weather fronts, and the luminous subtleties of Tasmania’s coastal light. Averill’s practice is both intuitive and observational, offering viewers a lens into the fragile places where land and sea entwine.
She exhibits professionally with successful solo shows at Wild Island Tasmania Gallery in 2022 and 2024. Her next solo exhibition is in April 2026 at Wild Island Tasmania Gallery.
Averill was a finalist in the Devonport Regional Art Prize Tidal.24 in 2024.
Averill completed a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the University of Tasmania in 2014 and a Bachelor of Commerce at the University of Tasmania in 2004.

Averill also runs art workshops where participants draw their inspiration directly from nature to create unique one of a kind works.
